7 Checked Bag Packing Tips

Checked baggage is very convenient for long trips, as you are going to need to pack more with you.  Here are some of my tips and tricks for preparing and packing your checked baggage.

1.  If you are getting a new suitcase, I suggest getting a bright color, or fun pattern to help you identify your bag quickly in baggage claim.

2.  To prevent your suitcase from popping open all over, buy a luggage strap to help insure that your suitcase will not pop open.

3. When packing liquids, untwist the top of the bottle and place a piece of plastic wrap on the top of the bottle, then twist the cap back on.  This will help to put an extra seal on the bottle.

4. Roll your clothes instead of folding them.  This will help prevent wrinkling, and it saves space too!

5. Plan your outfits ahead of time.  Doing so helps me from over-packing.  I like to lay out the outfits on my bed, and take pictures of them on my phone, then I pack the outfits together in my suitcase.  I usually don't plan out what I'm wearing each day, but just plan out the number of outfits needed for the amount of time I'm gone for.

6.  Make sure to leave room for any additional things you might buy on your trip so you don't have to worry about fitting them somewhere when its time to leave.

7.  Finally and most importantly: do not put your laptop, chargers, or anything very important to you in your checked baggage because it could get lost and or damaged.

Happy Traveling,

5 Ways to book the cheapest flight online

Everyone always want to get the best deal when booking airline tickets.  Here are a few tips on getting the best bang for your buck:

1.  Start shopping early, but don't always buy early.  Airlines will usually release the cheapest seats 4 months in advance (5 months for international flights)

2. Have flexible arrival and departure dates.

3.  Sundays are usually the most expensive days to fly.

4. Ticket prices can change up to 3 times per day.  Some websites offer email alerts for price changes.

5. Most discount ticket sales are held in the beginning of the week.

Airport Travel Tips

Hi Everyone!  Happy second day of December!  I cannot believe the Christmas Season is already upon us, and only 22 days away!  Here is a list that I have compiled of tips for air travel to help your travels go smoother.   I have got some of these directly from TSA,  and others have come from personal experiences of mine.

1. Arrive to the airport atleast two hours prior to your flight departure time.  This gives you time to find parking spot, get your boarding pass, and check your bags.  Make sure you come prepared with all forms of ID (drivers license, pass port, birth certificate, etc.).

2.  Make sure that all liquids in your carry on bag is 3.4 ounces or less, and in a one quart plastic baggie.  TSA has a 3-1-1 rule- 3.4 oz or less, 1 sealed one quart bag, 1 bag per person.  Stick deodorant does not have to be in the baggie, but gel or spray does need to be in the quart baggie.

3.  Always put a travel sized toothpaste and toothbrush in your liquids bag, and a change of clothes in your bag just incase your checked luggage get lost or delayed.

4.  Consider signing up for TSA Pre-Check to reduce time spent waiting in line.

5.  Keep the chargers for your electronics with you in your carry on bag.  This is good for if your phone goes dead, or if your luggage gets lost, you will have the chargers for your electronics you brought with.

6.  Pack light!  Wear your most bulky items on the plane,  but make sure you are still able to be comfortable.

7.  Do not wrap gifts in your carry on.  Security agents my unwrap them for further investigation.  Consider shipping them before you leave.

8.  Always check the status of your flight.  Before leaving for the airport, check the arrival and departure times, and be sure to give yourself a good amount of time to get there, and thru security.

9. Download the app for the airline you are flying.  Some have an option to check in on the app in result skipping those long lines to get your boarding pass.

10.  Finally don't forget to enjoy yourself while traveling!  Prepare for your trip, so getting to the destination can be enjoyable!!

Safe Travels!
